Hi
I have sold my lovely Porsche 992.1 GTS as it was not a great daily for family use. I still have my lovely POrsche 981 Cayman GT4 for some fun blasts
Now looking for practical but fun to drive family car
I had a brief test drive and found it very enjoyable
Is there anything worth looking out for on these and what is the running costs llke such as tyres, brakes, servicing , warranty etc
What options are a must , so far i really like the massage seats and laser lights
Lastly is there other options out there worth looking at instead of the F90 M5. Max budget £65k and ideally no older than 2022
Any thoughts or comments would be ace , be savage as maybe the better option is a 530d

I run an M3 Comp Touring as a daily alongside 992 and 718. It is a great car and likely more practical than the M5, perhaps one to consider unless you really want some of the more luxurious options you can't get on the 3 series.

I have had my F90 M5 Comp (San Marino blue a great colour) had it for 18 momths
I am very happy with it it is brilliant it can be cruiser in one moment then a rocketship the next
The grip is amazing but make sure you have Michelin pilot sports 4 s they are night and day better than other brands
Performance is out of this world for a saloon car and surprises alot of people
The boot is massive and goodleg room in the back and front
The comp has a carbon room + sports exhaust
Costs
tyres for set were just under £1000
Servicing which is every 2 years or around 18,000 to 20,000 depends how you drive it
I had full service oil, brake fluid ,and AWD fluid and filyers cost just under £600 at main dealer
MPG my average is 18.5
BMW warranty is £83 per month
no issues so far
Insurance depends where you live and age but still expensive
brakes discs and pads will be expensive but I have put money aside for this
At the last service they noticed that the rear shocks were weeping but will monitor it next December at MOT( quoted £2500 for a set)
It is a great value car and a future classic

Coolant expansion tanks are the main weakness on the F90 M5s, which can leak coolant onto the fuel injectors and cause all sorts of issues, including seized motors/engine failures! There are several companies out there that do Coolant expansion tank relocation kits for the F90 M5 and which are better made than the flimsy plastic OEM units.

And whatever you do, do not follow the 2-year manufacturer service intervals, oil changes should be every 5,000 miles at the latest on the S63TU engines (and any highly-strung high performance engine for that matter).
