Knocking/Clunking when braking
Discussion
Wondering if anyone could shed some light, I'm going to get the car checked out but am a little concerned.
Basically when braking I hear a knocking/clunking type noise, the noise happens when I press the brake and is noticeable at low speeds.
It sounds like it's coming from the front, infact I'm 90% sure it is.
Although as you know it's sometimes hard to pinpoint noises in cars.
Any idea what it could possibly be?

One clunk or continuous clunking?
If its just one, it will be the anti rattle clips for the pads being missing / broken.
Sorry I should have been clearer, it's just one knock, kind of like a thud when I press the pedal. If its just one, it will be the anti rattle clips for the pads being missing / broken.
I take it the parts are cheap then?
If it is infact what you say I assume it's ok to drive and it's purely noise or will it be dangerous, have increased wear etc?
Thanks in advance

My car was clunking today. I highly suspect it's the jack in the little boot compartment moving about and hitting metal.
Probably not that if it's coming from the front though...
No unfortunately, I have nothing in the boot at all (removed spare wheel etc), and it's certainly coming from the front.Probably not that if it's coming from the front though...
What's odd is new clips eliminated the noise, but now it's come back.
There must be something more to it...

I stopped caring after a while as the brakes were operated fine.
