The suspension on my car is looking tires, the front shocks are std and the rear some aftermarket things where the adjusters are seized. The fitted springs also look tires and look like they have sagged ie very little gap between the coils.

The car crashed and bangs over rough roads which annoys the girlfriend, however it handles like its on rails smile

I only paid £1500 for the car and wonder if its worth changing the suspension (About £500) or just getting on with enjoying open top motoring.

IF I was to change what would you suggest. The main purpose of the car is for me and the girlfriend to have pleasant open top trips to the coast etc. Therefore not interested in race style rock hard suspension. Probably somit in the middle.

As my user name implies I have turned many a wheel turn on tracks, however I am not a great fan of rock hard lowered suspension in these days of third world roads which we all enjoy now.
My track Dolly Sprint is stiffer than standard but is still just usable but my wifes MX5 is standard as is My Quantum 2+2 turbo (which came to me lowered and stiffer than concrete).
The problem with too stiff suspension is that the car hops from bump to bump and actually loses grip as a result despite feeling great on a smooth roundabout.
The way things are going our roads will descend further into disrepair and hence I keep it a little soft.
I have just sold my MX5 so this spring I had 2 of them to get through an MOT! one had 3 broken springs and the wifes had both rears broken.
Could this be your cars problem?

It purely depends whether you want to spend £500 or so on suspension.
It will transform the handling of the car (I have Gaz Gold Pros on my car; ~£600) but spending that amount of money isn't for everyone!
There are plenty of more budget options available, but if you can afford them, do! They're fantastic! driving

good choice. I have them, only dropped my car by around 10-15mm due to our st roads, but the handling is much improved, haven't really played with the settings yet, think I am on 12 front, 8 rear, as set when they were fitted & very happy with the setup.
