No, not this....

But this....

Ok so I've bought a SSteel 4-2-1 manifold for my Eunos and I'm wondering should I wrap it or not. Searching on tinterweb there are a few horror stories of the metal going brittle and cracking and even the wrap catching fire yikes
Does anyone have theirs wrapped or have any info. Any help welcome biggrin
Thanks

Mark

Why would you want to wrap it?

reduces underbonnet temps a little.

i've heard that the wrap that you wet to apply can lead to corrosion in the downpipes but no first hand experience.

I think you'll only really get problems if you've got a cheaply made manifold, but it might be an idea to get some high temprature paint on it before you wrap it?

More POWERRRR evil
Lowers under bonnet temp, cooler air intake.

Its negligent though, wrapping the exhaust retain exhaust heat, since it can't escape a much through the surface of the tubes it transfers back into the head. Raises the temperature of the head which subsequently raised the temperature of the intake charge once it's inside the head.

Far more effective to move your air intake to the skuttle panel

I've seen this happen, although I think stainlaess steel as the OP has should be fine.

Yes I think if you wrap cast iron it's not to good but mine is luuuvly 304 stainless so should be ok. You can get them ceramic coated but it's about £400!

I just use a heat blanket. Keeps the heat away from the SC & intake while still allowing air to circulate and escape downwards.

So I wrapped!

It was a bit tricky but worth it in the end I think. Car is much smoother with the 4-2-1 manifold and pulls better through the mid-range. Also there was bit of a rasp from the exhaust which has all but gone.

The manifold needed a bit of modding to get to fit(outer holes needed elongating)but nothing to bad.

All re-fitted, looks quite good I think.
