How much for a rusty mk1 1.8

Just wondering how much a '95 1.8s UK car would be worth - either with some (3/4 months) tax/mot or no T&T. Engine is fine, bodywork needs some loving (poor paintwork), and the usual sill problems.

Just be careful on this one: a cheapish UK MX5 1.8 can look rather tempting but you'll be entering a whole wide world of rust, seized nuts and bolts and general misery. It needs to be very cheap indeed: if its got not tax and MOT, then it needs to be sub £400 because its going to cost a fair bit to repair and don't forget that a decent imported MX5 complete with MOT isn't exactly expensive anyway.

yep way under 500 and buy shares in plusgas . son has just bought this year a uk 1600 with ok sills and bodywork for 550 with mot but cracked spring so bargains are out there , last year I paid 300 for a eunos with a duff clutch 50 later its on the road!

Let it die and create a kit car.
There are plenty of good ones for just around a £1000 and any work soon hits this mark even if the car was free.
Not knocking the MX5 as I love em but being realistic.

Yeah, pretty much thought so. Not looking at buying, made that mistake last year

Fixed springs and brakes, bought it as there was a receipt for sill repairs already done, but the rust has come through pretty badly Will probably look to offload it soon as not got time to work on a kit car and don't think it's worth spending ~£800 on

Import, Auto, no MOT, no tax, electrical problem and the brakes need freeing off etc. etc.

Went for £460 on Ebay!
