My car currently doesn't have any power steering, which i thought was great at first, but now I am getting used to the car a bit more, it is starting to get tiresome and heavy, and seem a bit slow at times when having to turn the wheel quickly to turn.

Firstly, how easy is it to fit power steering to a car without it.

Secondly, what would be needed to fit power steering? Is it just the steering rack that needs changing for a powered one, or are the steering columns different too?

This is on a MK1

Thanks

It's an easy 2-step procedure.
1 - Sell your car.
2 - Buy one with PAS

Hell of a lot easier though. I have seen it done but it needs a fair bit of work i.e. fit PAS rack & pump, reservoir, cooling pipes etc.
Why do you think selling would cost that much? Does yours need work or do you just think you'd have to pay a bit extra to get one with PAS?

The front sills are rusting a bit, although i believe it is only surface, and my drivers wing has a stupid amount of chips after a gritter drove past me last winter!

Oh and because i just rebushed all the suspension so would seem a waste if i didnt keep it!

Do some research on Nutz. I'm sure I've seen it done somewhere and Nutz is the most likely place.
