Has anyone here had an immobiliser on an NB MX5 recoded by a main dealer?

Mine has gone fubar and everything I read online indicated that I would have to change the ECU, immobiliser and locks etc to sort out the problem. I phoned my local Mazda dealer today and they said they can recode a new immobiliser and I don't have to change anything else. This is obviously much preferable as my intention was to replace everything with used items btu this seems to be an increasingly common complaint so replacing it with used items of a similar age makes no sense.

I would expect the Mazda dealer to know best but has anyone had this done?

Mazda UK are clean out of immobilisers but I got the last one from MX5 parts today on the off chance that they can do it and the dealership has said that they are quite happy to recode and fit the one I get as long as it is genuine Mazda.
