OK mystery over, on closer inspection I found an old screwdriver wedged under the motor arm

The only two times I've ever had my '5 in a garage, somebody has made a simiilar cock up. First time they left the Oil Cap off and I had to fish it out of the undertray - decided not to take it back there - and the fktard from the next garage left his torch on the rocker cover. Quickly noticed both as I always have a quick check under the bonnet when I come home from a garage, so not major damage was done - still decided to keep the mechanics torch though, it's pretty handy in the boot when there's little light about! hehe
