help.. just bought an old mx5, lights come on but wont raise, is there a simple solution to this, like a seperate fuse or relay,no history,no service ,no owners books.
on a good note though starts every time and only leaks when it rains!!
any help here would be much appreciated.

Not sure if there is a fuse specifically to raise the lights, if I am mistaken I'm sure someone will be along shortly to correct me! (I've only had mines a few months too!)

Might sound a bit stupid, but have you tried raising the lights first and then turning them on? hehe

There are two relays on the nearside of the engine bay. I had some problems a couple of years ago ..... different to yours but the thread may give some hints/ tips?

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

From memory the relays were only £4 and £12 and dead easy to swap over. If a local owner could drop by, you could test in a matter of five minutes.....

do they raise if you use the switch in the middle of the fascia between the vents ?
Has the fascia been removed as its the easiest thing in the world to forget to put the connector back on the switch.
if its all connected the switches fail regularly

If it turns out to be your motor or in face any other components you can have mine for pittance.

Took it all out of my track car, Just taking up space.

Good luck!

cheers all, wobbled the switch in the centre and they work fine,so am i right in assuming that you have to raise the lights, and switch them on/off seperately or have i still got a glitch in there somewhere
