Had a lovely drive today between Newton Mearns and Stewarton near Glasgow today. With a tank of v-power, the roof down and the heater on, all was well with the world smile

I've fallen in love with my car again, partly due to my new K&N Typhoon induction kit. What a sound! nuts

With a little bit of snow on the road it was great to be able to kick the tail out with just a tiny amount of throttle!

Pics of course...

Was doing the same today in the north east. Some funny looks for sure. I need a better hat also. Not a better way to spend a weekend morning / afternoon. smile

Don't have any of my own pics of the air filter yet, Atty. I've been too busy driving since I fitted it on Friday night as it's so addictive! It really is the best thing I've done to my car. I was considering an exhaust as well but this is already very loud when you floor the throttle. But when driving normally you wouldn't know it was there. cloud9

And I can't tell if it's just the noise but it does feel a bit faster particularly at around 5000 rpm - it just seems to surge forward.

Here is a pic of one the same colour as mine fitted to a nutzer's car.

Any chance of a link to where you got it from?

I bought mine used on MX5nutz items for sale section. Was £90 delivered and also came with a nice chrome heatshield.

I've also spotted this one in the last few days for £75: http://www.adtrader.co.uk/wales/rhondda-cynon-taf/...

Going by your profile you have a mk1? I'm not sure if they fit mk1s unless you do some adapting. It's not listed under mk1 induction on the mx5parts website?

My 1.6 already seems loud. Would like to hear how different it is with the kit on.

Looks cracking, I really do wish to live in Scotland sometimes!
No idea whereabouts you are in that area, but the A70 from the M74 J12 to Ayr is a cracking bit of road, pick a time when it'll be quiet and it's immense. I drove from Southampton to Ayr last year to visit friends and that was just what I needed after the endless M6/M74 trek; a cracking bit of road! driving

Thanks for the tip Luke. I've only recently moved to Glasgow so I'm still looking for good driving roads.

How are you finding the Gaz Gold Pros? I'm considering them at some point.
How do they compare to the standard bilsteins? Any downsides? A worthwhile £600?

If you're new to Glasgow then the roads north of Kirkintilloch up towards Carron Valley are fantastic.

I live about 10 miles away from Stewarton and know most of the roads mentioned here very well! Good to know there's another PH'er with a 5 not too far away - will keep an eye out an be sure to pop up the lights if we pass while out hooning!

In fact, I've just read that first post properly and am 99% sure that is exactly the same road I had my first "this is exactly why I bought this car" moment. I believe I turned off it at this junction however, because they were carrying out repairs on the little bridge down by where you took those pics at the water!

No worries, when I visit next time I will definitely be on the search for other decent roads!
The Gazs are fantastic, definitely worth the money. I haven't come across any downsides (beyond setting my ride height too low initially!) at all.
In comparison to the Bilsteins I found them more comfortable initially (before setting them firmer) and more composed over a bumpy road. I'm certainly glad I went with the softest springs as well. smile
I'll be up that way again at some point (probably Feb/March) so you're more than welcome to come and see/go for a blast.

thumbup

It might take a bit of modding but I think/hope it will work.

Less than half price and it's pretty much like new. K+Ns are bit of a marmite thing. I've put them on most of my cars(usually just the replacement panel type)and never had any complaints. Plus they pay for themselves
In the long run.

Interesting. May well take you up on that offer of a passenger ride if you're up this way. Might even be able to arrange a little MX5 gathering. driving

There's seems to be a growing number of PH'ers with 5's in this area in the last few months, I reckon a little hoon/gathering in the new year would be very possible!
