NB - which brace?
Discussion
I've got a 98 NB and just need to stiffen the body a bit for general road use. The car isn't going on the track, but the roads around here are in a diabolical state and with the hardtop off the poor thing just wriggles and flexes everywhere. So what sort should I get - brace across the seatbelt struts, across the boot, underfloor, full roll-bar, Option E?
Whatever I get can't get in the way of soft- and hardtop use.
Cheers

Start with the basics. A Mk2 shouldn't flex too much so when was the alignment last done? (i.e. full 4-wheel alignment, not tracking).
What tyres do you have and how old are they?
Is it on standard suspension?
Hmm, not sure about a full alignment - tracking was done when the new tyres were put on about 500kms ago - full set of Bridgestone Adrenaline RE002. Suspension standard as far as I know, car's now done 168,000kms so maybe time for a refresh. Original owner for first five years was member of the local Owners Club and looked after the car, and the second owner used the car as the daily drive for six years across the city every day. What tyres do you have and how old are they?

If it was mine I'd get the full alignment done then. Front tracking is almost completely pointless on an MX5 and can in fact cause more problems as it solves. It won't of course stop the chassis from flexing - it's an open car so there will always be some, but it should dampen the effects and make it a lot more predictable over rough roads.
