So, some absolute tt has driven into my car whilst it was parked, and I couldn't find the culprit, so looks like I'll have to sort it out myself. It's especially annoying as it's across two panels mad I'm not sure what the best way to go about it is though?

Anyone got any suggestions or ideas on where to go around NW London or Essex to get it sorted?

Please excuse the dirtiness!

Ouch. S/h door perhaps, but the wing will need proper bodyshop attention frown

Just spotted the topic typo, whoops!

I did think about a second hand door, but the car's an S Special, so has electric mirrors and windows, so thought it might be a bit of pain trying to source one that's the same?

I also thought about trying to fix it myself, although I've never done anything like that before (possibly have watched too much Wheeler Dealers!).

It's probably a good idea to get some quotes from places to fix it first, but if anyone knows a recommended place I'd appreciate it?

Mine is an S-Spec too - the mirror is an easy swap, but the door internals are a nightmare to work with unfortunately frown

Can't help on bodyshops in your neck of the woods though I'm afraid frown

I had very similar recently Matt. Mines worse though, with the door stoved in and the handle inoperative and the rear wing is a bit worse. The hit the car so had that it was left knocked at thirty degrees to the pavement. Apparently it was a 7.5t car licence lorry, which doesnt surprise me, as theyre the worse driven vehicles on the road.

Itll be repaired when the sills are done using a new panel, but the repairers were confident that they could repair it without a panel if I wanted

In my rush I forgot to sya that Id need a new door, complete with handle. £30 for an NB, in black, so not too bad.

Im wondering if its because its black - Ive come back to it three or four times now and found parking damage, always in the dark.

If theres even a hint of sill corrosion then Id be looking to get it all done at once, as the cost of one will greatly mitigate that of the other and youll get something out of it for not a great dealof further expense.

Good idea. Not sure if my sills need doing really though. You can see in one of the photos that the arch is a bit rusty underneath the paint (where it's been bent out of shape), but I'm not sure if that's anything to worry about? I.e. enough to need the arches doing?

I can recommend two places, one in NW2 (Kilburn) and the other not far away in West Hampstead (NW6).

Matt, Im getting both sills done and the rear quarter repaired at the same time and Ive been quoted £380 (£150+£150+£80). Im supplying my own door in body colour, but this is only going to cost £30.

Where is that?

One sill has gone where it meets the arch at the back, and the other, although solid, has some surface rust on it. I don't want to spend more than the car is worth fixing it!

You could try Garath the MX5 restorer. Hes in Sussex somewhere. His prices are higher, but he is in the South East.....

That's where I was planning on going. As you said, it's a bit pricier but his work does look good.

Doncaster's a bit far for me unfortunately, but Sussex is possibly doable so I've sent Garath a quick email.

I was going to go down to Garath, until I found a quote for good quality work in Yorkshire.

They are bds arent they???
Its better to be honest.

In 1997 I had an A reg red Mini, as i drove out of my road 7am , the sun was in my eyes and the left side of my car (headlight) hit a parked nissan and took out the back drivers side quarter light (smashed). I couldnt see because of the sun so I parked up, realised it belonged to the first house and knocked on the door, no answer, so I left my number and address and reg of my car on a note under the wiper.
They called round that evening and the owner got a quote to replace quarter light and the local garage they got it fixed at £70 cash.
Sorted.

It would be on my conscience if i drove off, but then again some people dont have a conscience do they?
