Mk2.5 Door lock / alarm probs

The central locking module on my 2002 Sport has long since failed , and as it requires dismantling the dash to get to it , I am happy to use the key in the lock .and leave it for the time being
Thereby is the problem , when I unlock at the drivers door, the alarm ( factory fit ) is not unset , lock and unlock a few times and the alarm will then unset and I can get in by either door. From the passenger door the car unlocks and the alarm is unset without problem
So , I presume there is a contact / switch related to the alarm within the internal components of the lock , is it replaceable or is a new lock required ?,AND how easy is it to remove the door card and replace the lock ?
