Time to start thinking about changing the winters on my other half's Mk3 for summer tyres, the ones that were on before are past their best. Looking for suggestions for something that gives good wet and dry grip. Lifespan isn't a primary concern as we put winters on the car when it's time to, and she doesn't do a lot of miles.

Open to suggestions smile

I went from the original RE050s to ContiSport 3s and TBH I didn't find a massive difference in them, they are holding out well so far so impressed with their longevity. Would like to try some st tyres to see just how good the chassis is!

I found the RE050s to be pretty much spot on, but didn't try competing tyres. They offered enough longevity / slip / grip that I never really felt the need to change TBH

I have Toyo T1-Rs on mine, think I'm on my fourth set now, and they're brilliant, both wet and dry.

I found the RE050s to go 'off' in quite a bad way when they reached the 2.5mm mark, saying that they had covered 20k so perhaps not all that bad.

I've been pretty happy with the Yokohama Advan A11A.
Better than decent summer tyre for the road, without trying to be a track tyre.

And it's OEM AFAIK.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm confused, what ones were original spec? Her car has the 16" rims, would that be the Bridgestones or the Yokohamas?

They good in the wet, yeah? I've read of a few folk say they're awesome on the dry but a bit slippy in the wet, am prepared to be convinced otherwise though.

My 16s had Yokos on as OEM
Replaced with Uniroyal Rainsport 2s
and, looking to replace with same come April
Toyos are good but Rainsports last longer and are great in dry and wet with an almost identical tread pattern to the Toyos. Mind, they are a few quid more but not as pricey as Bridgestones or Michelins or Goodyears

Camskill still showing stock of them in the size required for a Mk3 MX-5?

Might get another set bought then as I'll be due some before I take the car to Europe again....
