So my new MX5 is sick :(
Discussion
Chaps,
Last week I got an engine check light on my (one week old to me!) MK2 S-VT Sport. After plugging my code machine it appears the engine was running rich. I had a nosey in the engine bay to find that the lid on the air filter box had come undone and was basically just sitting ajar on the filter. Put lid back on, light went away, problem solved... (overcompensation perhaps as I thought this would have caused the engine to run lean?)
Now however, the idle appears to be erratic on some occasions (I reckon about 10% of the time). It has the exact same problem of the car in this video;

Now the chap in the video says his problem was a nackered MAF sensor. Could mine have been damaged by having the air box lid open? Perhaps during a particularly big bump which caused the lid to come off in the first place?
Secondly, can anyone point me in the direction of a replacement? Ive looked online and can't seem to identify the correct one. I take it its a relatively easy job?
Thanks

Probably not a large bump thats done it, more likely knackered the MAF due to the damp, wet air and road salt etc we have this time of year not being sucked and caught in the air filter and all manner of crap wrecking it, they are sensitive.
Maybe try cleaning it the MAF first with some form of electrical contact cleaner before replacing, you can get them in sprays from halfords and the like.
