Mk 3 / 3.5 exhaust note
Discussion
Afternoon all,
I’m still planning of getting a Mk 3.5 MX-5 at some point in the near future. One criticism levelled at the standard car is the lack of a decent exhaust note. Has anyone fitted a sports exhaust to their car? I wouldn’t want anything too loud but an increase in exhaust note quality rather than volume would be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

I've just had the Racing Beat silencer fitted to mine and very pleased with the result, it's only a little louder but makes the car sound how it should. I might get their connecting pipe for some more volume at some point though.
It's probably the best option to get what you're looking for, it's very well made and good value. Of the others available here I've only heard IL Motorsport's (still prefer the Racing Beat) so I don't know what others there are. I'm on miata.net and find some of the popular choices you see on Mk3s there are a bit noisy/harsh to me; the best I've heard by far is the Kakimoto R, but is very expensive even before you've paid the shipping from Japan.

If you do go for it, make sure you get the appearance package version (longer) if the car has the sport rear "diffuser". In fact I got one from mx5parts to go with the exhaust and it looks great. They are made to order in Anaheim you'll have a 2-3 week wait.
