I have a mk 2.5 and naturally want to protect my head, but all the roll hoops I have found are just cosmetic, which seems frankly ridiculous if you ask me, or they're full on racing cages, which is a bit OTT for a road car.

Is there a company out there that does a relatively simple but structural roll hoop, that won't fowl on my soft top and hard top. Also I have a glass rear window and am worried that there won't be space for it to be stored properly when the roof is down.

T R Lane apper to be the recent bar of choice. Otherwise look for "Hard Dog" bars.

As above.
I think TR Lane are the only ones made in UK. Hard Dog (like I have) are US so quite expensive.

I wouldn't worry about it too much though. I've never heard of anyone dying in an MX5 on the road who would have survived if they had roll bars and also never heard of anyone who survived a roll on the road in an MX5 only because they did have roll bars. The only way they could be that effective anyway is if you were seated well below the height of the roll bars, wearing harnesses and in a full bucket seat that didn't let you move around too much.

I was looking at these when I got my 5 5+ years ago and concluded they where pointless after watching the tests they put the mx5 through for rolling.

If the car is imparted with that much force that it ends up on the roof, your gonna get seriously injured.
