Hi
i was wandering if Mk1 mx5's were classed as a classic yet?
as i would like to buy one but as im only 18 the insurance i imagine would be astromnomical, but as im already with a classic car insurance company with my current car they will do other classics resonably cheap.

Cheers
Ben

I insure my 1994 Eunos on a classic policy with Footman James through the MX5 OC.

I don't know whether it's the same with you insurance company but when I tried to insure a classic it had to be under insurance group 3 because I am a young driver. To give you an idea of insurance outside of classic insurers I'm 18 and have a MK1 MX5 and my insurance is a little over £2500 fully comp smile

There are many insurance companies that will cover a Mk1 on a Classic policy but you may find that they are more restrictive on young drivers than mainstream insurers. Many will not entertain drivers under 25 years old.
