I'm being rather nosy, but what it anyone on here who bought the mk1 RS-Ltd advertised in the classifieds for £900? Last time I looked those went for about £3k.

FWD too aparently, must be why its 900 quid hehe
hehe

I'm just intrigued as to whether it was hiding anything more dramatic than the stated niggles. Even if it needed new rear wings that'd be quite a lot of car for the money, surely?

Well it says that it has bubbling arches (so probably sills as well) and it doesn't have the RS Recarro seats so it's pretty much a standard rusty Mk1 with BBS alloys.

Lots of 1.8 Eunos have the LSD and the lightened flywheel and short dif ratio makes it a very buzzy drive and not to everyone's tastes. Certainly not the ideal car for anyone who wants to do many motorway miles for instance. Personally I wouldn't pay extra for them.

Doesn't make the rs ltd a standard rusty mx5 though, which is the point you tried to make..... rolleyes

All MK1's from late 95 onwards, ie the Spec2 cars were, fitted with the higher output engine, 64bit ECU, lighter flywheel and the 4.3 LSD. So YES it is just is rusty MK1, as the ONLY thing that made the RS Ltd Special was its colour and the Kevlar Recaro's.

Interesting.

I'm probably going to have to change cars again in a few months' time and I quite fancy a return to MX-5'dom. My last one was a mk1 RS-Ltd and I must admit I thought it was a bit further distinguished from the rest of the range.

On a related note, am I right in thinking all the 1.8 JDM models have a Torsen LSD?

No, I don't think so.

Technically it wasn't standard on all Eunos 1.8 models, however we have broken over 40 MK1 1.8 Eunos's and every single one has had a Torsen.
So I would say its a safe bet to say that a 1.8 MK1 Eunos will have a Torsen.

I thought the 4.3 diff was fairly rare?

According to here it was fitted to all Australian 1.6 NA cars. I'm guessing the Aussie cars were the same as the rest of the world, so that would imply that all NA 1.6 cars had the 4.3 diff.

I also think that the RS and R-Ltd 1.8 cars had the 4.3 too.

That link suggests the 1.6 had a 4.3 viscous LSD and the 1.8 had a 4.1 Torsen LSD. That would imply that a 4.3 Torsen LSD (as fitted to the RS-Ltd) is pretty rare?

The 3.9 diff is the most common diff I believe, the 4.3 command the most money second hand. Check on MX5nutz as they'll know on there.

Why not? Once replaced with some decent ones they are great, especially when the top is down

Mine had Kevlar Recaros but without the headrest speakers so I never got a chance to find out. It sounds like a good idea to me, though, almost like wearing headphones in the car without the slight sensory deprivation effect you get doing that...

the headrest speakers are the things i miss the most now i've got my sparco seats in. well that and having sensation in my bum after anything over a 20 minute drive...

having speakers down by your feet doesn't exactly present the best sound stage
