Hi all, this is probably more of a general ICE question but there doesn't appear to be a dedicated sub forum on PH.

The original dealer/importer fit Sony headunit in my car has been playing up lately so I have bought a new Alpine unit to replace it. I removed the Sony today and note that the Sony wiring harness has been hard wired into the car. This terminates with a 3x1cm ISO plug which goes into the back of the Sony stereo. It's a neat professional job.

However, the new Alpine unit requires a smaller 2x1cm ISO plug into the back of it.

Is there any adapter I can get to enable plug and play? or am I facing a rewire job? Alternatively, do the latest Sony units still come with the 3x1cm plugs?

Any advice appreciated

Thanks

Both mx5nutz and mx5oc forums have a dedicated ice section which may point you in the right direction.

It sounds to me that the ISO plug has been cut off the sony and directly wired in. You don't happen to have a white plug further along the loom do you? My Mk2 had a white plug, which led to 'proper' ISO connectors, to which i connected my stereo loom. Very much doubt you will get a connector in this instance, prime your soldering iron! smile

I think you may have to hard wire in a new iso conector.
