I have the chance of an MX 5 with good history, lots if extras and looks really smart. There is no surface rust on the vehicle, however it has had the sills reworked. What would you say? Should I walk. It seems pretty difficult to find a car without this work done, so is it normal?

The car is a 2004 model. So sounds like its quite new to have had this work done?

Cheers

Depends on the quality of the work I'd think. Which is hard to say. How long ago was it done? Is there paperwork for it/guarantee.

If it looks like an otherwise solid car, and the work was done by someone reputable. I wouldn't walk away.

Sill work does seem the norm unfortunately - especially on the mk2.5.

My parents have just had the sills cut out and replaced on their 04 plate Euphonic - for reference it's a low mileage, all year round shopping car, kept under a carport.

Unless it's silly cheap I wouldn't touch it. There are plenty of cars of that age with no issues (mine is a 2002 and is solid)

Maybe its repaired but in my experience the rust comes through eventually as garages only do what you see.
There plenty of good ones.
I would look for better.
