What should i expect to pay to insure a mk1 1996 im getting quotes for £300 limited miles garaged etc via Adrain Flux. im 40 in south bucks and have 3 points TS10. As a chauffeur i already have private hire insurance so all my no claims is not taking into account on the 2nd vehicle etc.

What are people paying and what are the best companies please?

Try Footman James.

I pay £230 odd for my UK 1.8 with mods on a classic policy. 5000 miles per year. Garaged in Herts. they can go agreed value as well if you take pics and full out the forms that want if its a bit special.

MX5OC membership number will get you 10% off.

Try the usual culprits such as Aplan, Sky, REIS etc if you haven't already done so - details can be found on the Insurance thread on Nutz. Greenlight have just started advertising on Nutz but I haven't read any reviews of them to see if they are any good or not. If you're still unmodified then see if the comparison websites come up with any cheap deals.

I had a little ring round as my insurance was up for renewal. Surprised to see MoreThan come up as the cheapest on price comparison sites. Rang a couple of specialists, including REIS, and they had ridiculously high quotes. Fired off a quick e-mail to Footman James to see if they'd match Morethan, they rang back and I'm sticking with them again as they matched the price, and actually have legal and breakdown with them, so better value on average. Only downside is classic policy so not building any 2nd car no claims.
