Usually if I saw something like this, I'd straight away think it's crap, an ebay special consisting of a resistor on air temp signal.

However BBR are a reputable firm, and are the creators of the mx5 turbo.

As I don't intend to go for a turbo, I wonder would this be any use, without the expense of a megasquirt? I'm not even sure the MS would do anything for a n/a engine, haven't looked into it.

So is it snake oil or not?

I've never known of a chip that has any positive effect on an MX5. BBR are good name though so I'd give them a call and ask them the details, especially as £300 is a fair chunk of money to pay for something that might do nothing.

Odd as its for a 1990 car onwards and they show a picture of a MK3 ?

"Up to 50% improvement in mid-range vitality"

What does that mean ??!! Sounds good though !!

throttle response?

Vitality is a snake oil type word though. Sounds like a 19th century medicine to improve vitality by 50%.

Head over to mx5nutz.com , there's a few topics on there about modifying chips and what not, some positive feedback on a few too i think.

You have a mk3 yeah? I've a mk1. I'm in Ireland so it'd be a long trip! I've never owned an RS, just short term use of rs250, rs200 and rs200 gordini. Couldn't afford the daily running of one!
