Remote central locking.

We have a mk3 MX-5 and the remote keys are utter ste. The range is dire and the buttons just sometimes don't work! Is it just my car or a common fault and if so can it be rectified?

Hold the key to your head? Improves range by quite a bit!

Is the battery in the fob good?

I have a mk3 - the key fobs have awesome range! Suggest you change the batteries! They don't last very long though, mine was changed a year ago and I've already noted how the range has decreased.

You can get them for a couple of quid online and it's dead easy to change them yourself - give it a google.

Sounds like the battery is just about shot. I find no problem at all.
