New shocks needed...
Discussion
I have a '92 Eunos S-Special which has Bilstein shocks which have just been mentioned as an advisory during an MOT. Looking at my replacement options; there are many! I had just assumed I'd go for coilovers but it seems there is a lot of choice there too. Any recommendations? I would like to lower and stiffen it a touch as it's future is as a track day/weekend toy. Gaz Classics look an obvious choice but there are lots of cheaper options. I hate to buy crap just because it's cheap though.
I would go for a decent make of shock bilstein etc with lowering springs cheap coilovers are horrendous to live with, the set on my mx5 when I bought it was lowered so much it ended up snapping 3 springs and a shock.
Gas coilovers are good but are expensive and not needed with a standard road car.

You NEED Gaz coilovers. Even if you run the standard ride height. I fitted some last week to the missus mk1 1.6 and the ride is lovely. We've tried a few different set ups (standard, ebay cheapie coilover, etc) and the Gaz are head and shoulders above the rest.
It really is worth spending the extra money.

Now I know I'm biased but every year we go through this same exercise and every year there is a new favorite.
D2, BC, Meister, etc etc and still nobody admits that all these shocks are made in the same factory in Taiwan and to date nobody revalves or services any of them and I include Tein.
This means that when they de-gas you have to throw them away, hence the reason that people have owned multiple kits,
