Looks like changing the seats is on hold for the moment.

It appears some of the valves are burnt (around 60 000 miles, so seems quite early to me)! I've been told if one lot go the rest are likely to have the same problems. Since in Norway labour is so expensive this will be around £1200 just to replace 4 of them.

As a result of this I'm thinking it might be worth just getting a new engine. I figure it would be worth getting a 1.8l engine if I'm doing so, so I can supercharge it - the Mk.2 1.6l is basically useless for doing so. How difficult is it to replace a Mk.2 1.6l with a 1.8l engine? The price difference to the 1.8l cars in Norway is around £2000 so I have that to play with before it becomes more expensive. The other issue is I have to spend money to fix the problem on this car anyway if I want to sell, so it would be better to just not have to pay twice; work on current car then more expensive different car.

Also what other parts would be worth doing, adding a limited slip diff I imagine? There seems to be advice for changing the engines from an NB to NA, but not NB to NB.
