MX 5 engine / gearbox dimensions?

I am looking for the length from the front of the engine to the gearlever and the height of the engine from the bottom of the sump to the highest point on the engine as I am thinking of using an MX 5 engine on a kit car track day project. Also which engine would be the best to use in a road/trackday kit car, it would be used with minor tuning mods to start with but upgraded later on.
