Had my Mk 1 Eunos for a number of years now, it a 1989 1.6. Its mechanically standard apart from a K&N filter. Might be a mad idea but I have heard that you can supercharge these things? Thing is I have no idea what I would need or what it would cost to do this. I wouldnt buy new parts, secondhand supercharger and ancillaries etc. Can anyone let Me know how its done & a list of parts I will need and where I would get them from?

Cheers!

You certainly can supercharge them.
Jackson racing make probably the most popular kit. Moss Europe used to sell them but I can't see them on their site anymore.

Head on over to MX5Nutz who have a number of very knowledgeable performance members.

Plenty of help on Nutz, but be warned - dont just sign up and ask the same question, it wont go down well.

Do lots, and lots of reading, and research first.

I see your in West Yorkshire - I'll gladly show you my car. Turbo, not supercharged, but I've considered both and lots is similar.

If you're supercharging go for dual throttle bodies. This smooths out the idle somewhat and is considered the correct way of supercharging the mx5 although it can be done without.

Essentially you will need,

Dummy throttle body
Supercharger & associated pullies / brackets / belts
Intercooler & pipework
Uprated injectors
Engine management (e-manage blue, megasquirt etc)

Dual throttle bodies only really needed if intercooling, not necessary on a base kit at 5-6psi.

You don't need a new ECU and uprated injectors either at that level. I ran mine for more than 10 years like that. I only added ECU/intercooling at 8psi.
