My mk2 has developed a tear in its vinyl roof. From within the space of a week it's gone from a pinhole size to a bigger tear. I think it's the original roof (the car is a year 2000) and has a heated glass rear screen.

I'm in the Bedford area and would appreciate any suggestions as to where i can get it repaired (or worst replaced)?

Where is the tear? Some can be repaired, some can't. Mine tore and went 'crispy' within a couple of weeks, which was a 2000 model. I had the whole roof replaced at jack smiths, and lifted the car's appearance no end.

Thanks, am hearing only good things about Jack Smiths. I think i am going to get the pennies together and go for a mohair roof with them.

Yes, mine is a 2000 as well and the split has appeared very quickly. Cause probably worsened by having the hood down even in cold conditions so stretching and splitting the vinyl in the process. Did you opt for mohair?

I think the advice is to recommend not raising and lowering it below around 5C if I remember correct...

Yup Mohair (although it strictly isn't Mohair, it's a purpose made cloth). The car looks a lot lot better.
