Have any of you put your 5's on a strict diet?

What kind of weight is achievable?

Unless you are prepared to really strip it down like a track car, which makes it a pretty nasty place to spend any time, then the weight savings are barely worth while.

This guy turned his '5 into a dedicated track car and put it on a pretty strict diet. Should give you a few ideas.

After doing a bit of digging, I'm inclined to agree with Lazza - more hassle than it's worth.

For reference, my basic uk 1.8 with manual steering and no a/c weighs 965kg with fluids and a few litres of fuel. I've binned the baby teeth, radio and speakers, carbon canister and spare wheel, and have a lightened flywheel, and 14" Wats. Everything else is stock. Here's a list of weights of various bits:
