Series 1 mx5 1993. Squeal on start up

On starting up my car in the morning , there is a high pitched squeal
This squeal becomes progressively less loud and less frequent after repeated start ups

I had the cam belts and all the other belts, as well as the water pump changed about 6 months ago

I have done about 1250 miles in the last 36 hours and the car has run beautifully , other than for this high pitched squeal on start up , which lasts about 2 to 3 seconds

Advice as to the likely origin and solution of this problem please

Sounds like the alternator belt to me. Probably just needs adjusting.

You were also correct about the hand brake...... The rod within it had worn, and I bent it a little to adjust it which has worked at least temporarily

I will have to look at getting another handbrake lever, as I don't know if you can just buy the internal mechanism

But I am ok for the immediate present
