Hi guys, currently have a 1991 1.6 uk model mx5, it has some hunky red coolant in it so am looking to change it. The only coolant suitable for my car seems to be blue, the MEG stuff. Is the blue ok to use after a good flush out of the system.

What coolant do you chaps use (the none OAT based stuff) on your cars and where do you get it from? I've only seen the cheap blue stuff in halfords, cheers.

Which one is it you buy, so many red/green/blue ones. Do you buy the de-ironised water too?

Also just to clarify is it meant to have OAT or MEG coolant?

Comma Xtream Green G48. No idea on the spec, I'm not technical in that way, but I know it works perfectly with MX5s. It was recommended to me by Phil of Performance 5 and I've been using it for around 10 years.

Millers Alpine BT (blue). Meets and exceeds all of Mazda's specs for engine coolant for the Mk1.

Diluted 50/50 with CarPlan de-ionised water (£1.50 for 2.5L at Sainsburys).

One flush done the job, clear water was running through after letting the engine warm up.
