DPF warning light & timing chain issue
Discussion
Had the DPF light start flashing on the Mazda today. Took it to the dealer after a 100 mile run home and they plugged it in and said the fault was a stretched timing chain? Are they yanking my handle or is this a common fault with all Mazdas? I thought the DPF warning light was to do with the particulate filter. Apparently on the last service they did an ecu upgrade that included software to tell them when the chain was stretched and out of spec. If its relevant its a 60 plate 2.2 Sport with 85k on the clock.
It will get fixed when Mazda and the lease company finish having a willy waving contest over who's paying the bill but it just seemed a bit of an odd explanation of what the flashing DPF light was indicating.
