My 5 has really bad rust in the normal place, rear wheel arch to sill.

Has anyone changed the complete rear wing instead of just patching a plate in?

I see that you can buy the rear wing, but can't find anything online about one being changed. Is it a stupid idea? Any problems? To me it looks like a much better long term fix. Doesn’t look too hard to get the old one off then mig spot a new one on, in fact it looks easier than the welding and straightening involved in putting a plate in.

(I would post the scary pics of my rust but my work computer won’t let me)

I'd be interested in the answer too. New wings/sill are £100 or so.

Sadly that rust is nothing out of the ordinary.

I would suggest borrowing a spot welder to weld the new wing back on though.
