Fitting a mic for Mk1 radio?

I've just bought a radio with Bluetooth to replace the antiquated aftermarket head unit in my Mk1, and it's got an external mic on a lead. I'm thinking of mounting it on the driver-side A pillar – how do I go about threading the wire behind the dash to the back of the radio?

I have just done the same to both of ours. I have mounted the mics in inside the instrument binnacle on the basis that it is then sheltered from as much wind as possible and is straight ahead of you when you speak. In fact the second one that I did came with instructions telling me to do this. It seems to work well but there are occassions when turning the steering wheel can obscure the sound reaching the mic.
