I'm looking to buy an MX-5. I owned one a few years ago and now want to revisit the fun.
The car I'm looking at is a 2006 MX-5, 2 litre. soft top, not retractable hard top, 58,000 miles. £48000
It has a reasonable MOT history, just the usual tyres and brakes.
Last year it failed its MOT in May due to corrosion on the rear suspension (no surprise there!) It has since been repaired.
Is it worth the risk?

My advice, find a cheaper one!The car I'm looking at is a 2006 MX-5, 2 litre. soft top, not retractable hard top, 58,000 miles. £48000

I have a similar MX5, same age, 44k on the clock, would be happy to get near on 5k for it. A car is only worth what people are prepared to offer for it. Mine has been garaged since I bought it in 2012, I had the undersides treated, but that only slows the rot down. These days 5k for a car isn't serious money, mechanically it should be fine, just get someone to look at it underneath that knows what they are looking for
