ND2 - induction sound tube modification - anyone done it?
Discussion
Just seen this. Yes I have. I generally like it - gives an "ITB" like sound when revving it. Very pleasing...
However, there are some downsides. There is some drone at low revs under wide throttle openings, which is fair enough, as I tend to drive around this anyway - I don't tend to lug the engine at low revs, preferring lighter throttle openings at higher revs in lower gears rather than making the engine struggle.
The other issue is a buzzing / resonance noise that accompanies the high rev noise. I think this is the 'flange' of the adapter that goes into the bulkhead vibrating on contact. I am trying to think of some solutions to this - if I can solve that it will be an excellent mod. I suspect some extra foam or sound deadening around the flange might help quite a bit. I haven't yet tried the foam insert but I wanted maximum induction noise so that'll be a last resort!
