Which MX5 ?

I will be looking for an MX5 shortly (once I get rid of my 328is).
It will probably be used by my girlfriend daily and I’d like to use it for weekend hoons and track days.

I’m looking to spend up to 2k. Which model should I be looking for ?

Is a mk1 1.8 good enough on track as standard ?

Do they all have LSDs ?

They don't all have LSDs. Imports tend to, UK cars tend not to.

I've used a standard Mk1 1.8i on track a number of times and it was great fun. Not quick, but great fun.
