1.8 brake conversion.
Discussion
I am looking at 1.8 brake conversion. i plan to track my car 1 to 5 times a year. I already drive this car "fast roads"
Will 1.6 brakes with good pad and disc. and fresh proper fluid do the job well enough?
because I couldnt justify about £30 per cailper bracket to do 1.8 brake upgrade.
Also, can this 1.8 brakes fit under standard 14" wheels?

IMO there is no need for the 1.8 brake upgrade although most would beg to differ. I'm running 1bar of boost on my 1.6 ~ 250bhp and I find the standard discs with braided lines and mintex 1144 pads more than adequate. Of course I do run R888 tyres so tyre grip and braking performance is enhanced compared to normal road tyres.
Mx5mad didn't feel that I needed the 1.8 brake upgrade and advised me against it.

I'm running on Super Blue at the moment. http://www.k300performance.co.uk/ate-super-blue-ra...
I think the Silkolene PRO RACE 2000 stuff I had before gave a better feel. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-862-silkolene-pro-race...
And of course the daddy is Castrol SRF which I've never been able to afford. http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-740-castrol-srf-racing...

Is that where you get the fluid from too Munter? And how much is required to do a fluid change on these cars?
As for the 1.8 brakes, I'm upgrading mine very soon as I needed new discs and pads anyway, so though what the hell and got some used carriers ordered too. I'll be running these with Yellow stuff all-round

my 1.8 brakes were doing just fine at bedford. Which to me suggests they are a bit overkill, and that good new racing fluid (usually dot 4 for various reasons) is key.
