Will these fit my Mk1?
Discussion
I'm just wanting to check if these would fit my '5 before i go splashing out! Can you tell by the marks shown in centre of the wheel in the pic?

You might have to save the pic to zoom in to be able to read, or you may just know!
They're off a mk1 / mk2 golf, think they are originally bmw ones?
Help appreciated!
Edit to show centre of alloy clearly (hopefully!)

I think they will. The MX5 is 4x100, with an offset of around 35, and a bore of 54.1.

You'll need some spigot rings if the guide is correct, which it isn't for the MX5. The bore should be 54.1, not 64.1.
Can you try one before you buy?

I'm assuming the bore is 57.1 on the alloys as came off mk1 golf, going by the guide (and what i've just read elsewhere). http://www.carlsalter.com/wheel_fitments.html

Cant really try before buy as they are miles away and was going to get courier to deliver.
SO, if this is the case, how much are spigot rings, where do i get them from, do they do a good job of slightly bigger wheel bore not knackering the handling!?

I've never tried them, but http://www.customspigotrings.co.uk/ or Ebay. I'm not sure why the ones on Ebay are £40, as I think I paid about £15.What they do is centralise the wheels, so when you bolt them on, you can be sure that they are sitting correctly. Without them, it's possible to have the wheel slightly off center. They don't take any real load, and so are only made of plastic.
The offset of golf wheels will be ET38 and the mazda in OEM trim should be ET45 (larger number = wheels closer together).
Many people fit lower offset wheels to the mazda as they will fill the arches better and give more grip.
Some argue standard is best as low grip is what the MX5 is all about.
The choice is yours but they will fit fine if they came off a golf.

Still really tempted by these, if they are still available in a couple of weeks once i've had my '5 checked over and MOT'd, i may plump for them. (i see it as an investment as almost new tyres on them too, well, i keep telling myself this
)
I believe they may have an offset of 24? I'm not well versed in what all these numbers mean particularly, but will these be ok, along with just the spigot rings for the bore, not affecting the handling of the car adversly, and will they fit!?
Cheers for the advice so far guys, much appreciated.

Smaller offset does indeed push the wheels further out but it doesn't improve grip - there is no reason at all why it should! What it will do is increase tramlining & bump-steer but it does look a lot better.
it does affect road holding tho as your resistance to roll depends on part on your track - you get lower weight transfer all other things being equal with a wider track.skinny said:

I'm not convinced that 20mm wider track (ET35 to ET45) makes that much difference though. Especially as 195-width 15"s will have the same inner track (i.e. inner sidewall to inner sidewall) as 185-width 14"s.
