Tuesday evening, crap day at work, crap evening, everyone moody i had that gotta go for a drive feeling. Hit the backroads of Solihull towards Warwick window down i noticed it wasn't cold even the slightest. Pull over and put the roof down. The next hour of driving was pure euphoric.

As i drove through the backroads i smelled scents which i have never experienced whilst driving. I could see all the moths and flies diving for the lights as i drove through. You can make out the line of the trees above you as you pass under them. You actually feel part of the scenery rather than being cocooned from it (if that makes any sense).

Overall bloody brilliant!

No worries.... wavey I usually go for a run once a week however with my poor Legacy feeling ill i decided to take little Mazda instead. Well it looks like little Mazda is going to be coming out a lot more often. I got funny looks of other drivers though. They must be jealous biggrin

I got stopped one night last autumn. Driving an MX5 topless at 11pm on the North Circular isn't 'usual behaviour' apparently.

Also grinning like a fool makes you look like you're on something.

Oops. biggrin

Missing ours like crazy.

Favourite moments:

1. The drive from our house in Leighton Buzzard (Milton Keynes) to Mudeford (just outside Bournemouth) one Christmas morning a couple of years ago to see my folks.

White car, roof down, heater on, both of us wearing santa hats!

Got a lot of thumbs up that day and one car chasing after us on the M25 taking pictures!

2. Night drives home from the office in the autumn/winter - hat, gloves and scarf on. Heater on, rear end sliding. Like you say you can really smell the air in the evenings.

3. Autotest day - slipping clutch aside, it was great fun and need to another very soon.

It's why I do my 30 mile commute roof down both in the morning & when I leave the office...Helps some what that I drive through the Ashdown forest with some beautiful roads criss crossing my way down to the coast.
