.....with a 1.6 mx5 mind taking me out for a little spin.

I know how cheeky I am for asking but I've been out in an 1.8 but never a 1.6. I initially had my mind set on a 1.8 but now I am unsure. After a short conversation with Steve from Goodwood Sportscars (seems like a top bloke btw) I am swaying towards a 1.6 due to the lower insurance and the fact that there is alot more of them about (within price range anyway).

I have always been in the mindset that the 1.6 would be noticably slower then the 1.8 and I just want to put my mind at rest.

Cheers.

Ps. There will be a few beers on offer!

The 1.8 isn't much quicker however om the other hand the insurance difference is minimal as well.

My insurance was £800 for 1.6 vs £830 for 1.8.

Mk 1 1.8's also came with additional chassis bracings from the factory.

I think the main difference is meant to be the torque, the 1.8 feels more potent in the midrange.
