NA / NB roofing knowledge - fitting advice pls.
Discussion
Hi all.
My NA had a mohair roof conversion fitted many many years ago, with the upgrade to a glass / heated rear screen, which helped lots as my daily back then.
From what I recall, it was Moss supply.
Of late, the lowering of the roof has been harder and harder to get the bars moved to let the solid glass window fall flat.
So, some digging around, AI etc and seems the straps I have in my roof running fore/aft to the bars that are elasticated have lost their elasticity and do not pull bar two and three forward.
I can make some ? I could be some like this :
https://www.mecatechnic.com/en-GB/p/straps-kit-for...

or
https://skidnation.com/shop/mazda-mx5-soft-top-con...

1) am I on the right track?
2) These do not seem elasticated? Which I would assume necessary to pull the bar forward clear of the glass?
3) would either of these be possible to fit without rmoving the hood fabric? (and assuming I can be a contortionist ) Removing the hood fabric may make this easy fix a real faff.
Am I missing anything?

Think they are basically like a seat belt material and are designed to hold the bars in a specific position?
Are the straps on the correct bolts at the back, this is worth checking.
A photo of the roof up may help to see the bar position.
Thanks, the straps I have in situ now are lightly elasticated seat belt type, and 'saggy'Are the straps on the correct bolts at the back, this is worth checking.

I would have thought it needs to have elasticity to 'pull bar 3 to bar 2' when the roof is unclipped and ready to lower?

I seem to remember there is a technique to use when putting it down, involves holding the rearward bar forward slightly so the window is allowed to drop down.
Cant help much more sorry!
Yes - this, and seems to have gotten worse.Cant help much more sorry!
I can see how (and AI is an assist) the bars draw towards each other and then the canvas transverse piece show above takes the 'rubbing' of the bar to slide out of the way and provide the apperture to lower the glass through the middle of.
Anyone with a NA and Glass rear willing to go look at there fore / aft straps and say whether elasticated ?
Images here suggest a) fixed length, not elastic, b) doing it with the canvas in place will be a difficult task
