Save my Jeep: Jeep Cherokee XJ Specialist / Parts

I am appealing to the wisdom of PH for some help with my 30 year old XJ

After a year or so off the road I am trying to get it through an MOT.

Various issues have stumped a very capable garage.

Does anyone know a good Jeep specialist who is still in business?

These are a simple car, we still have a few every year for a service and mot

ABS light is illuminated.

Currrent garage cannot plug into the OBD, allegedly too old.

Might or might not work but I've used this technique on loads of vehicles with success . Reverse for 50 plus yards , shut the Jeep off and wait for a good minute then start it up and keep your fingers crossed . Failing that it's a wheel sensor .

As stated it could be , sensor? Exciter ring corroded ,
Wiring?
Unlikely but pumps do fail with age ?

Yes we have ascertained the abs rings are cracked, however cant rule out anything else.

We're near Tunbridge Wells....happy to transport the car anywhere to get fettled.

This being a old vehicle and with the accompanying corrosion issues etc doing the exciter rings and accompanying sensors could turn into a nightmare,
Ie requiring maybe new hubs blah blah etc,
There must be some old school repair shops in your area
As this would require a detailed inspection to give you a good idea of the likely costs ?
Seized and broken parts greatly increase the cost!
It’s the sort of job a home enthusiast would probably do ?

PCN. This chap was amazing, encyclopaedic knowledge and can access the right parts.
He can even do the work but there will be a 6 month wait.
Considering next steps.

Glad to help.
I've been dealing with Greg for years, buying parts only.
He only sells the good stuff, wont stock cheap crap. Gives away tech help on how best to fit the part you just bought also. You wont get that from online parts sellers.
He does like a good chat on the phone !

I have a DRB3 diag unit - I'm in Leeds. A few other specialists still have them. If you get to me on my travels happy to plug in and read it for a mcds coffee. Bit trickier if it's currently off the road.
