Im looking into buying another watch but spending more this time up to £2.5k
Misses is none to happy with another and the value she doesn't get.
So where am i too look for good advice as to what model to get.
My favourite at the moment http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Omega-Seamaster-Planet-O... but i don't want to just jump in due to the value.
What puzzles me is the values there all over the place also new or secondhand
Any advice would be helpfull thanks.

That's quite expensive for the 'old' model IME.

This is the 2500 movement, not the latest 8500 movement which would be more akin to the price. Also I personally wouldn't spend that sort of money on eBay, regardless of how legit the seller looks.

Be easier if you gave us an idea as to what you're looking from the watch – size, style, bracelet or strap preferred.

I have been on the Omega website and the Planet Ocean is the best for me with a metal strap and a large bezel as i would struggle to see the date,i don't need a chronograph as its too busy.
The example on ebay is what im interested in but i wouldn't buy from them it would be a dealer.

2.5k should get you close to a 8500 movement, for a 2500 I would be looking closer to 1.5k...or at least that matches with the prices I see coming up on TZ.

A comedy price! Priced to take advantage of those who dont know the difference ebtween the movements, I think.

That alone makes the vendor someone Id avoid.

Googling 8500 came up with this http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?241440-My-ne... same watch but newer version, i think its cracking and the red tip to the second hand is a great touch!

The earlier incarnations of the Planet Ocean all had red tips to the seconds hand.

I would stay well clear of eBay. The Planet Ocean is one of the most faked watches of all, and as already pointed out older models with the 2500 movement (which, despite stories to the contrary is a robust and reliable movement) can be passed off as later, far more expensive, 8500 powered models.

Is this about right on price? If i used a dealer could i expect a similar price for the condition and age of the watch as ebay can over price items due to auction fever.

Thanks again.

How so?

The differences are fairly obvious from the front and the back - from the front the old model doesn't have a joined up '6' and from the back the new model has a display back.

If you know those two facts; great. If you don't... that's how.

If I was spending 2.5k on an omega, id be making a visit to an omega store.

The customer service of the omega store in Trafford centre in my experience has been very good, they clearly have to deal with a lot of 'tyre kickers' so are very patient.

And leaving empty handed I presume? You won't get a PO in store for 2.5k.

You might need to up your budget a touch but it is just within reach...managed to get mine earlier this year from Watchfinder, large size, less than a yr old for near enough £2800..absolutely love it.

Hi
I’m new here but I have a question regarding my Omega Seamaster watch it’s the Beijing 2008 watch 3301 caliba
If I wind it 40 turns and wear it everyday it will stop on my wrist , seems strange for a fully auto watch any ideas ?
Thank Audi

The self winding rotor isn't efficient in automatically self winding - maybe due to the fine oil in the mechanism gunging up in the 10 years of your ownership .... Time for a service,

Other opinions are available from it being FUBAR'd to temporal time shifting resulting in you loosing days at a time Star trek style smile
