Average lead time for new Rolex GMT Master Blue / Black

After getting shot down on the purchase of an Omega Seamaster Commander (see earlier post!), the only other watch I like the look of at the moment is the GMT Master with Blue / Black bezel. So a call to my local David Robinsons whom I've purchased Panerai and Omega off before, are stating 3 to 4 months lead time before they can take my deposit and another 3 to 4 months lead time on the manufacture, and a 'No Wiggle Room' RRP of £6550. Is this about the norm at the minute in terms of lead time? Just that I'm a little impatient that's all !
Thanks

They certainly won't drop the price as they could sell it at list a few times over. And I would think that the waiting time you have been told is shorter than other AD's. I was told 6 months at Goldsmiths in Birmingham, Rolex in Harrods quoted me 2 years etc. Luckily I got it within 5 days
And I'm sure that no AD's take deposits on these as they never know what stock they will get until it arrives, and that is exactly what WoS told me a few moments ago while I expressed interest in two other models

Rolex AD's do not take deposits. if you're only being quoted up to six months wait for a GMT II BLNR then I'd get on their list, but they should not ask for a deposit. Also you will not get a discount on a BLNR.
I waited three months for mine from an AD in Cambridge and was not asked for a deposit when I registered my interest in a BLNR.

I waited around 2 months from my Local AD, I was told that they will not take a deposit as they have no idea when stock of BLNR will come in. Definitely a waiting list but get a relationship going with the dealer and assure them you will not just flip the watch for a profit and hopefully you may find that you reach the top of the list quickly. Well worth the wait!

Of course no shortage of used supply, all at over list price, suppose it depends how bad you need one.I was told 12-18 months.
Not really fussed if they supply or not plenty of other good watches on the market.
Andy
got my BLNR from Bond St London early this week - was on the list since March (and at the time was told September 2018)...so really waited 6mths instead of the 18mths quoted.
Prices are going up 5-7% within the next 3wks in the UK, Rolex following other brands (most did jump their retail prices this summer already). At the current FX, UK is the cheapest place to buy a watch at the moment (GBP6,550 vs Eur8,200)
note: bought 2 GMT (black) for my boys and a DayDate for my wife from that AD, all in the past 3yrs
note note: am on the list for a white panda SS Daytona, but told if i wanted a black one, would prob get it within 9months, white panda dial is a different story

I was in cambridge at Mappin and Webb a couple of months ago and they had one in the Window, I tried it on, maybe good timing but they are about.I waited three months for mine from an AD in Cambridge and was not asked for a deposit when I registered my interest in a BLNR.

I have just moved to the Gulf ..
dropped into a local Rolex AD .. price quoted works out at GBP 6k for a BLNR ..but none in stock at the moment.
was also quoted the equivalent of about 5.7k GBP for a black GMT
.. prices seem ( slightly ) cheaper than UK
They most certainly are...... paid what you are quoting for my black GMT in July from Kuwait. (and no supply problem)dropped into a local Rolex AD .. price quoted works out at GBP 6k for a BLNR ..but none in stock at the moment.

I've joined the list for the green sub after getting the BLNR GMT last month, interestingly they told me they get at least 2 BLNRs for every green sub and they are quite plentiful.
I'm not convinced the rarity of the BLNR isn't some internet myth that simply gets repeated as they very rarely reach the windows.
The issue with the green sub is it's apparently very sought after by the Chinese community, to do with green being their lucky colour (news to me). However, the very nature of that means that although the waiting list is long as most join it after a large casino win there's every chance that money has made it back to the house by the time the call comes through.
On a personal level, I do feel the BLNR is the bargain of the range-especially pre price rise. Duel colour ceramic, GMT complication-it really does make all the others seem expensive. My only concern is the polished centre links on the bracelet, I wear my sports models as a weekend watch/holiday type of thing and I know it won't stand up to the abuse my Sea Dweller does.
Decisions, decisions...

I wear my BLNR on a Sub braceletDecisions, decisions...
It was an expensive thing to do (£1300) but I MUCH MUCH prefer it and if I want to sell the BLNR I have the original bracelet with stickers still intact (not that I'd claim the watch was unworn)
I had a LN on this Sub bracelet too
You can just brush the original but resale could be awkward and repolishing centre links is possible bit tricky after they've been brushed

The dealers seem to be getting fewer of these and I was told by the sales manager of a dealer I know well that they only expect to get 4 next year and they have about 20 people who want one although the reality is that lots don’t actually buy the watch when the call comes
I think the reality of getting one is either to buy from a grey dealer (chrono 24) is a good place to look noting that the strong rumour is that Rolex are due to shortly increase prices just like PP are doing for the popular SS sports watches.
The only alternative is to speak to the both local dealers and just hope you get offered one in a reasonable timeframe
Good luck
