Tudor Black Bay 36
Discussion
My first post in the Watches section of PH, so Hi everybody!
Compared to others on here I'm not that much of a watch buff.
I mostly wear the Omega Seamaster (James Bond's blue 300M Diver Chronometer) I got for my 16th birthday or the Speedmaster Automatic I purchased for a good price a couple of years ago. Besides them I have a vintage Tudor (broken) and a vintage Enicar (broken) and countless Swatch watches I seem to keep purchasing but never wearing (mostly iconic stuff, like the Black Friday (first Chronograph) or the Firewall (first Alarm Clock IIRC)).
I have always liked the Heritage Black Bay collection from Tudor. My absolute (new) dream watch would probably be the One-Of-A-Kind Tudor, but since there is only one and it was sold for 375k Fr.
I have to look elsewhere.
I now have the opportunity to buy a new, unworn 36mm Black Bay with the metal bracelet for under list price of a friend. I'd have to get it before Christmas, but he would need to know whether I want it or not rather today than tomorrow. Also I can't just drive to him and try it on as I'm busy the next two days and he's 2h away from me
Now I have a very slim wrist, so I presume the 36mm would suit me just fine, but should I buy it?
Does anybody on PH wear the 36mm?
Help, shall I get it?? I could give it to the OH as a Christmas gift....
(the same way I initially gave her the Speedmaster as a present, but kept wearing it myself
)
Here are some random photos of google...

I like it.
It does remind me a lot of another watch I've seen recently.
Maybe a modded seiko? I don't know.
The more I look at it the more it looks very much like... a watch. Clear, probably high quality but very generic.
Again, I like it but if I bought it I'll probably never wear it.

36 is a good size for smaller wrists as it sits on the wrist, instead of hanging out.
I've a 33 mm vintage that looks OK, and a 37 mm that gets a lot of wrist time as it slips unobtrusively under cuffs, etc. 39/40 is about the limit for me depending on lug-to-lug length.
If you are happy with the design, then go for it.

Thanks for the replies!
I know what you mean regarding the snowflake hands.. That’s why my ideal watch would be the One-Of-A-Kind:

But I actually prefer the snowflake to Rolex’es Mercedes hands!
It really is like a baby Explorer. That said the original Explorer, or Explorer I was 36mm too. Only recently Rolex switched to 39mm for it’s Explorer.
And yes, it probably is THE WATCH, i.e. A no nonsense, no chronograph, no date, no diver bezel, no anything watch.
Pitty it has the Tudor shield logo instead of the rose on the dial..
Well, I let you know how it turnes you in the end!

Update:
In the end I did buy the Tudor BB 36 (as it's called amongst Tudor aficionados on the internet, it seems)!
Haven't had one in the hand yet, so somewhat nervous about picking it up tomorrow.
I will let you know what I think of it!
ETA:
It crossed my mind to eventually sell my automatic Speedy, once I have the BB 36 hmmm .....
What do you think? I bought the Speedy for exactly for the same reason I bought the BB 36.
To have a smaller, more dressy watch for when I'm not wearing my Seamaster (which I'll never sell as it's been a present).
What do you think? Shall I keep the Speedy?

Start a collection, then you will always have choices. In the end I did buy the Tudor BB 36 (as it's called amongst Tudor aficionados on the internet, it seems)!

In the absence of the OP can I offer my experience of a BB39?
I bought mine a couple of years ago as my first, and probably last, Swiss timepiece. I looked at all sorts of watches and liked the look of the Black Bay, non divers watch, the most.
Mine's the chronograph. It loses a second a day, which seems to be well within tolerance. I don't really have any occasions to wear a dress watch so the jubilee bracelet helps lift the watch to a smart tool watch. I've gone for a blue face which works well with jeans.
It doesn't get "wrist time" every day but it does get worn regularly and hasn't got noticeably scratched bar a few scuffs on the bracelet catch.
