Keep collection in boxes or not...?
Discussion
My small but slowly growing collection has now outgrown my smaller and definitely not growing safe, if kept in original cartons/boxes etc, which is my preference.
So, assuming this is ground well trod on here, how can watches be kept securely and snugly insulated from knocks etc if not in the oem packaging? And, given the value of that there packaging, how best is this stored (if not just lobbed in the attic)?
FWP I know...

Keep the watches in your safe, out of the boxes, keep original boxes etc elsewhere.
Your watches will be perfectly 'safe' in the safe. If you're bothered about knocks and scratches, get some velvet style pockets to put them in. But they're going to get knocked about when you wear them anyway so I cant see the problem.
I used to keep my watches in a watch winder, decided in the end it was pointless, then kept them in a Wolff watch box, realised it was a bit unsecure. As my collection grew it became apparent I needed a proper rated safe for them to be insured properly anyway.

OEM service cases are handy for watches being used regularly - Omega ones are around £20-25 on eBay. Peli cases are great for storing multiple watches.

I keep mine in individual Oakley watch vaults and the boxes and papers somewhere else, not sure Oakley do them anymore but I think Case buddy do something similar, I have one and it's 80% as nice as the Oakley one!
The only thing is remembering which watch is in which case!!
VERY VERY handy for moving watches about too!
