I've always fancied one of these but i have no clue when it comes to Rolex. I've been looking on the usual websites, Chrono24 etc., but the amount of variations on the GMT and GMT II is crazy.

I wouldn't be looking to sell it on but never say never so which would be the more desirable model should i look to sell in the future?

GMT or GMT II? white gold or SS? and what is a good price with box and papers? i'm looking at both new and used.

TIA.

If you want to retain value you want stainless.

If you want a genuine Pepsi stainless you're looking at a watch 2007 or earlier.

Between when they first appeared in the late 1950s to when they disappeared in 2007 there are some models which attract a premium (unusual dial for example). If you want something to wear, buy a late-ish model on condition. Ideally recently serviced by Rolex and with a new service card which is as important, if not more so, than the original papers.

Price-wise, just look at Chrono 24 and Ebay. The Pepsi is one of the most sought-after watches in the market. The market is quite efficient and there are few bargains.

Without going into detail on here, do a search on "rectangle dial" and "stick dial" GMT, it's ridiculous but interesting to know, regardless of whether they are "worth" the extra they will only become more collectible as time goes by, anomalies and short runs (these dials, flat 4 Subs, Metres first Subs, SD4000 etc) are only going one way!

Also bear in mind that all pre 2007 (pre ceramic bezel) GMTs have the same model designation regardless of which bezel they were sold with and lots of people have all 3 bezels (Pepsi, Coke and all black) and change them whenever they want so buy any bezel GMT you like if it's the right condition / price regardless of bezel, then get it changed, I can't remember exactly how much they are but you are only looking at double figures!

Thanks gents, i'll do some more research and have a look at the rectangle/stick dial thing.

What would be the more desirable model number, the 16710 or 16750?

None of them will if you pay the right price.

If you want something to wear I'd be tempted by a late model 16710. It's less likely to be worn out and polished to death. if you want a safe queen, an early or late one would be the way to go.

It will definitely be worn so i'll look closer at the 16710, thanks.

Just to close this thread I have purchased the Pepsi below from a seller on Chrono24.

It's a 2006 stick dial, I just have to wait 1-2 weeks for delivery now.

Thanks for the pointers and i'll update the incoming thread when i receive it.

Would be an earlier 16750 for me, MK1 or 2 dial, no marker surrounds. Has that vintage look but with the added bonus of the quickset function which the 1675 didn’t have.
