Hello all,
After booking some annual leave and a villa holiday I'm now going onto the finer details of things... High up on the list is what watch to wear.
Currently my daily is my Tudor Black Bay. I absolutely love this watch, is my most expensive piece and really has only left my wrist 4 times since (formal events where I like to wear my vintage dress omega)
Now the predicament I find myself and my current thoughts are below, but I'm wanting to get a feel of what others will do and their advice.
1 - Just wear my Tudor on holiday, after all, watches are for wearing. My only slight issue with this is that even though it's rated for diving I've heard that salt water on these could damage the crown due to their design? I'll be at the beach and would probably partake in some water activities, and going without is really not much of an option for me as I feel naked without a watch.
2 - Take my Orient Ray with me (did this last year), but problem is that the Ray seems to be running very fast and very inconsistently, my thoughts is that it could do with a service but to spend £100 servicing a watch which cost me £130 seems a bit false economy.
3 - Buy a new watch. I work for a company with many vessels and have a history of diving. They occasionally commission a company to produce some quartz diving watches related to our vessels / activity which I'm looking to buy. Unfortunately I missed the boat last time round and trying to source one now. If I manage to get my hands on one before I leave it I'd probably be taking / using this one.
Buying a temporary fill in Diver watch isn't really on the cards at the moment. Been sorely tempted by the new Hamilton Mechanical 38mm no date (just waiting for release), and she'd probably be my next purchase if spare cash is around. Trying to diversify my watches too and not have too many of the same type.

Mine is left on the bedroom window sill for weeks / months unloved until I do some reckless task like gardening or DIY and have need for a watch that can take abuse and being beaten about.
It's my go to for camping - No great loss should you encounter some undesirables

Haha, as said in the OP I'm not really looking to buy another watch / diver as such. The one I will buy from the company will be peanuts. I do have a digital Casio kicking around which I never thought of using though.
In reality the Seiko skx007 should have been the one I bought instead of the orient ray. I was trying to go against the grain and thoroughly regret it now.
But yeah, no purchases specifically for this unless you can recommend an auto which is suitable for some light snorkling for sub £100 (lower the better).

Suspect it is just down to bad luck and your SKX could have been the one that was playing up. Orient are good watches, I've found, similar to Seikos.T6 vanman said:

I have a second-hand Citizen automatic I've used as my holiday watch for the last 10-15 years or so - its now so inaccurate its sort of funny (+ >15mins per day). Given it cost me £50 to buy, I can't bring myself to spend anything on getting it serviced.
Having taken ownership of a Stowa Flieger at Xmas, any damage to which would make me cry, and having just booked a dusty, hot, outdoory, holiday for later in the year, I've just ordered a Seiko Solar diver with a rubber strap (SNE439) from Chrono 24 for a shade over £200
I know the OP didn't want another dive watch but my logic was:
solar = never having to buy a battery
dive watch = will suit for any type of holiday I might take in future years and fairly ruggedly constructed
rubber strap = better than bracelet in hot weather
£200 = not overly upset if it get a few knocks.

The red on the crown is a really nice touch there.
Think I'm going to see if I can get one of the watches from work in the coming months. If not may just take my old trusty Casio I used for gym / circuits.

I have been trying to talk myself out as I'm saving for 30th birthday present to myself (2 years of saving by the time I'm done) and that's either going to be a classic pre owned Air king or a slightly newer Aqua terra, depending on what I can find and how much I've saved by that point.

Aagghh. I am off to the sun myself in 10 days, 4hrs and 14 mins. I have been mulling over this one myself, and am close to making a decision. I always take at least 4 watches, as I don't want people thinking I am poor. After all, you wouldn't just take one pair of pants, or would you? That said, there is plenty of time for me to change my mind
